Ultrasonic Nebulizers 2.4 MHz make micron particles, Fluoropolymer coated, Fluoropolymer seals

HOW IT WORKS

Nebulizer How It Works
Sonaer's ultrasonic 2.4MHz nebulizer convert low viscosity liquid into fine like particles.  Liquids enter a vessel through a side port supplied with the unit and sit on top of a vibrating element.  As waves move through the liquid, the liquid will begin to be pushed upward, making a small fountain.  Off the surface of this fountain small particles will begin to float above the liquid and appear like smoke.  Gravity will have very little affect on these particles produced.  To  move the particles made a small air flow/gas or vacuum is needed. Model
Description
241PGT
2.4 MHz model 241PGT, Particle Generator, PTFE Fluoropolymer vessel and container, PTFE Fluoropolymer seals, PFA Fluoropolymer TEE, Gold element. The 241PGT will accept all 1.5" sanitary fittings, elbo's, TEE's, Y's, reducers etc. The unit is fully microprocessor based, allowing the user to program operating parameters into the unit, handling a wide variety of applications for accurate particle generation.  On the front panel is a LCD dispalay that the user can change the rate at which particles are being generated form 0 to 100% of the full output capability, in 5% increments. Built into the device is a variable 0 - 2 cfm air flow for moving particles out of the vessel where particles are being made, for special processes, like coating small parts.  This air flow source and all other connections are attached with quick disconnect 304 stainless steel clamp and PTFE Fluoropolymer O-rings.  This makes for easy removal of components for cleaning or adapting the device with simple connections, such as external gas supply or vacuums. In addition, the unit has an external PFA Fluoropolymer optical sensor and PTFE Fluoropolymer valve for keeping the liquid level to the correct height and preventing damage to the nebulizing element, should the unit run dry.  A Fluoropolymer container and PTFE Fluoropolymer tubes are provided for holding the liquid to be atomized.  This container can be changed with other liquid holding cells. The microprocessor handles all the functions of the 241PGT, including timed operation where particles can be made in preprogrammed amounts. 241PG 241PGT Teflon Particle Generator

The 241, 2.4 mHz nebulizers convert  liquids into cloud-like particles.  These liquids can be  water acids, salt solutions, fuels, acetones, ketones to name a few solutions that can be atomized.

The units are compact and have mounting
holes allowing it to be used in a wide variety
of applications and special processes requiring
micron and sub-micron particle size.

With the containment cylinder or vessel, ultrasonic
nebulization is maximized. Liquids enter the ports
within the side of the vessel and are kept to the
optimum height over the atomizer element. The vessel cell comes in PVC, Fluoropolymer coated stainless and stainless steel.

Sonaer 241T Module is a miniature ultrasonic nebulizer that is intended to be used in nebulizer arrays and creates micron  particles and sub-micron from various solutions. Some of these solutions may contain other elements such as dissolved metals, ceramics, powders, medicines .

The nebulizers  can be ordered with either a viton or Fluoropolymer seals and come with and without a vessel.

Particle Size

The average atomized or nebulized particle size, is
related to the surface tension (T), density (p)
and the frequency (f).  The following  formula will help in determining particle size.

Particle Formula

In the case of water, where T=.0729N/m, p=1000kg/cu. m and f=2.4mHz, the size of the particles centers around 1.7 microns.

Various factors come into play in producing small particle size. One area of control is the time particles remain in the containment cell.  The longer the particles are in the cell, the more chance they have in banging into one another.  It's important to move the particles out of the cell or vessel for processing.  This is usually done with a small low velocity air flow over the top of the cell/vessel. However, vacuums and flows up to 85 fpm have been used in special processes.

Another factor in creating small particle size and even sub-micron or nano size, is air drying the particles before processing.  Air drying is performed by moving the particles from the containment cell to a larger circulating tank or through a heat chamber.  In the circulating tank, particles can be air or heat dried to a smaller size.  Advanced light scattering can be used for particle size determination.

In many instances it is desired to process larger volumes of liquid for nebulization. This is achieved by ganging additional nebulizers to create more particles.  Some processes might even require up to 50 or more nebulizers needed for special processes.
Sonaer makes these ultrasonic nebulizer arrays  in various configurations that have all Fluoropolymer wetted surfaces, for processing volumes as high as 52000 ml/hr.

Some processes require low volumes of particles to be generated.  Sonaer 241 series ultrasonic nebulizer has provisions for enabling and disabling sonic energy.  Either a switch can be used to turn the unit ON / OFF or the device can accept a PWM signal, for controlling the amount of particles.
