Substrate Coating |
Sonaer nozzles can be utilized to coat a variety of substrates with a variety of liquids, solutions, suspensions, emulsions, etc. for various applications. Automated robotic coating systems allow for precise, accurate, reproducible, and repeatable coatings of substrates, in single, batch, or continuous process settings. Automation combined with hypo-needle feed attachments allow for multiple materials to be used in a coating during a single run, whether sequentially, simultaneously, or otherwise, allowing for graded coatings or bondcoats, or potentially even single nozzle use for multilayer coatings, which may be particularly useful for photovoltaic or solid oxide fuel cell applications. Such automated systems may even be utilized for spray based 3D printing of hydrogels or polymers from solution precursors and bioprinting, as well as for medical diagnostic and test substrates or other coatings of biomedical interest such as those for medical stents, catheters, or biomedical implants. Sonaer ultrasonics builds and develops automated coating systems from the laboratory and benchtop scale up to production level. |

![]() ATOMIZER NOZZLES FOR SUBSTRATE COATINGS |
Sonaer high-temperature atomizer nozzles spray consistent droplets on heated surfaces to form uniform coatings. Nozzles provide a narrow size distribution of droplets, making them the best choice for clean, accurate thin films. Nozzle can be purchased separately or integrated into our robotic coating system. |
![]() SUBSTRATE SPRAYING WITH THE PPSAS ATTACHMENT |
The atomizer nozzle fits directly into this attachment, which uses a small gas flow focus droplets to a pin point. Liquid passes through the center orifice of the nozzle and is atomized at the tip. Gas surrounds the droplets, giving a spray with a sharp focal point. |
![]() FLAT SPRAY ATTACHMENT FOR COATING LARGE AREAS ROBOTICALLY |
Sonaer flat spray attachment provides coverage in a rectangular area. The shaper spreads droplets in a consistent thin uniform direction with very little overspray. Thickness is nano to microns and is adjusted by the scientist for the application being developed. |
![]() GAS ASSISTED SPRAY ATTACHMENT |
Sonaer wide vortex spray attachment uses a small gas pressure to coat large areas with low volume of droplets. Droplets are dispersed over a wide area and provide a thin uniform coverage. |
![]() DOVE TAIL GAS ASSISTED SPRAY ATTACHMENT |
Ultrasonic spray deposition solution is delivered to the ultrasonic nozzle, creating a spray with uniform-diameter droplets. The spray is focused onto the substrate using nitrogen as the carrier gas. With the Sonaer dove tail spray shaper, droplets are atomized with the nozzle and the carrier gas is used to spreads the uniform droplets over a wider area. Controlling the flow of solution, carrier gas and exposure of droplets, uniform material thickness is easily deposited on the substrate. |
